Exposures 2005
Open Juried Photography Exhibition

January 20 to February 6, 2005

Juror Mary Frey, Professor of Photography, Hartford Art School
Frey was award an MFA from Yale University and BA from the College of New Rochelle. Selected awards: National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship 1992 & 1981; Massachusetts Council on the Arts Grant; 1986-87; Polaroid Corporation, Artist Grant, 1986; Guggenheim Fellowship 1984; Ford Foundation, Summer Study Grant 1978.

Entry Fees:

Each photographer must submit 3 works for a non-refundable fee of $20. (WHAL members $15) Additional entries are $5 each with no limit.

Requirements-

bulletAll work must be current and not shown previously in any WHAL exhibit.
bulletEach entry must have the completed entry form attached to the upper left hand corner of the back of the work.
bulletThe photographer must enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
bulletNo work may be removed for the duration of the show.
bulletAll work must be framed, wired and ready to hang. Clips are not acceptable.
bulletMats must be of a neutral color.

Eligibility:

The juried competition is open to all amateur and fine art photographers. Any original work which uses the photographic process with the exception of slides that need to be projected or photocopied is eligible.

Criteria:

The juror may select one or more images from a portfolio. The juror will be looking for consistency in editing, pictorial attitude and stylistic approach with reference to a total portfolio of submitted work. Many fine works may not be accepted because of space limitations.

Receiving:

All work must be hand delivered to the Clubhouse gallery, 37 Buena Vista Road, West Hartford, CT. on Tuesday, January 11, from 11-2 and 6-8.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Opening Reception

Thursday, February 20 from 6 to 8.  Award presentation at 7 p.m. Clubhouse. Gallery hours: Thursday – Sunday from 1-4.

Sales and Liability:

The West Hartford Art League will receive a 25% donation on all works sold. WHAL will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work.
