Noted Pastelist Will Do Still Life Demo

Noted pastel artist Millie Gliniecki, PSNF, CPS, APOW, will present a still life demonstration using pastels as her medium of choice in the School House at the West Hartford Art League on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at 1:00 PM. The School House is located at the intersection of Mountain Road and Buena Vista in West Hartford, CT.

Ms. Gliniecki uses the pastel medium to portray everyday objects in a new light. Playing lights against shadows and layering color over color, she is able to give a three dimensional look and feel to her paintings. By patiently building up layers of pastel, she develops rich textures and colors. Two of her paintings can be viewed currently at the Connecticut Pastel Society Tenth Annual Renaissance in Pastels Exhibition on display in the Club House and Salt Box Galleries at West Hartford Art League from now until November 9th.

She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of North Florida and the Connecticut Pastel Society. Her work can be seen on Associated Pastelists on the Web, where she is a juried member. Her paintings were included in the January/February 2003 issue of Pastel Journal. Her work has won numerous awards at nationally juried exhibitions including Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of North Florida, Maryland Pastel Society and Pastel Painter’s Society of Cape Cod, to name a few.

The Connecticut Pastel Society is a statewide organization which promotes and encourages the fine art of pastel painting through various exhibition opportunities, artist demonstrations, special events and publication of a newsletter.
